2010 International Conference on

“The Obama Administration´s Foreign Policy”

 

 Call for Papers

 

        Since 1973 the Graduate Institute of American Studies at Tamkang University has been committed to intensive study of the United States, including American politics, foreign policy, economics, and culture. In 1989, Tamkang University became the first and only school in Taiwan to establish a Graduate Institute of Latin American Studies devoted to this increasingly important region of the world. These two progressive and highly innovative graduate institutes were successfully merged in 2009 to form one entity, christened the Graduate Institute of the Americas (GIA) to better reflect the growing interdependence among the various countries on the continent. The GIA is now pledged to conduct and promote quality research into US and Latin American affairs. In line with this, its 2010 international conference on The Obama Administration's Foreign Policy” will be held on April 16.

 

        Despite the general focus of the conference on new directions of research regarding the Obama Administration's foreign policy, papers in the following sub-topics or areas of interest are also warmly invited:

 

  1. The Obama Administration's domestic policies
  2. The transformation of Obama Administration's foreign policy
  3. The Obama Administration's foreign policy with respect to Asia
  4. The relationship between the US and Latin America

 

Organized by: Graduate Institute of the Americas (GIA), College of International Studies, Tamkang University.

 

The Conference will be held at Tamkang University (main campus located at 151 Ying Chuan Road, Tamsui, Taipei County) on April 16, 2010.

 

l  Please submit an abstract of the paper of no more than 500 words both in English and Chinese (one page, with 5 key words) with topic of paper and personal information (see attached registration form) by January 20, 2010 to Ms. Elena Chang at tifx@www2.tku.edu.tw

l  Notification of the results of the abstract review will be sent by e-mail by our Conference Organizing Committee before Feb. 20, 2010.

l  The final paper of the Conference should be formatted for A4 size paper, and should not exceed 30 pages (double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman in English or Spanish).

l  Language used in the Conference: Oral presentation should be in English, however, paper can be written in English or Spanish.

l  Deadline for full paper submission will be on March 25, 2010.
